Résumé : | In this article, the work of three international governmental organisations (IGOs) dealing with education as a human right will be discussed, namely the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) (until 1952, United Nations International Children's Fund) and the Council of Europe (CoE).The main interest is related to the process and results of human rights codification at the global and regional levels, especially the right to education and its impact on the work of these three IGOs in the field of education. First, their main similarities and differences will be described.Then, their human rights approach to education will be analysed, dealing with the legal foundations. In the final section, the different strategies of implementation based on both their official mission statements and their present strategy papers will be evaluated. [résumé éditeur] |
